Position Description:
Highly experienced aircraft avionics technician.  Activities include the design, fabrication, and installation of modification packages on Department of Defense and FAA certificated aircraft.  Depending on individual core electrical and or avionics skills and experience, technicians will initially be utilized for avionics wire harness production and on-aircraft installations, or they will perform modifications, and repairs to fixed or rotary wing aircraft.  Mechanics, technicians and artisans will be required to use specialized equipment, in accordance with appropriate federal aviation regulations, manufacturer's recommendations, industry technical manuals and standards as well as Government Technical Orders and Directives.
 
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3-8 years on-the-job experience in any electro-mechanical disciplines, to include electrician, security systems, fire alarm, access control, CCTV, telephony, computer network infrastructure, etc.  Advanced aviation avionics training from a technical trade or military technical school.  A Federal Communication Commission (FCC) License issued by the FAA with commensurate General or Military Aviation experience.  Must possess the ability and experience to read and comprehend avionics and mechanical drawings, specifications and schematics.  A thorough understanding and demonstration of electronics aptitude and the use of tools and test equipment will be built upon to advance technicians in a highly complex career field.  A current or past U.S. Government secret security clearance is a condition of employment.  
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.  Finally, the physical ability to climb ladders, stoop, bend, be on your feet for extended periods of time, lift and/or carry items weighing over 35 pounds is required.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
•Perform avionics maintenance, modification and repair functions, both on and off aircraft
•Ability to perform the documentation of maintenance, modification and repair activities.
•Perform Contract Field Team (CFT) member roles (Travel Required).
•Perform in-facility production activities.
•Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting as well as conduct routine and special inspections as required by regulations
•Inspect completed work of other technicians to certify that maintenance actions meet standards and that aircraft are ready for operation
•Interpret maintenance manuals and FAA/manufacturer publications and directives to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
•Demonstrated ability to install aircraft avionic or communication systems, sensors and antennas
