SUMMARY
Supervises, supports, and implements the activities of the Shur-Lok Quality Assurance System. Administers those activities that are designed to meet customer requirements for a Quality Assurance System. Develops and implements procedures in support of company quality policies, as developed by senior management. Supplies feedback to the senior management team on the effectiveness of the quality system. Supervises and directs the work of staff in various quality assurance functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Performs and supervises contract quality engineering activities including: contract review; quality planning; customer liaison; certification; and the hosting of source inspection and external auditors. Provides inputs to other areas of the company as required to implement customer and regulatory quality requirements.
- Performs professional Quality Engineering assignments of considerable complexity under limited direction supervision ie. Conducts statistical analysis in the form of capability studies, DOE’s, etc to evaluate processes.
- Designs, installs and continually evaluates quality assurance and/or control methods and systems.
- Develops standards, procedures, and work instructions to provide quality guidance and to facilitate training activities.
- Performs training in internal auditing, mechanical inspection and statistical techniques.
- Maintain internal and customer requirements in QMS system.
- Conducts internal and external audits and supplier surveys to verify capability and/or compliance.
- Coordinates and participates in material review activities to determine nonconforming product dispositions and corrective actions.
- Develops, generates, and analyzes reports and returned products to identify trends and to facilitate corrective action/quality improvements.
- Host customer and third-party audits.
- Performing auditing functions within Wyman Gordon and with external suppliers.
- Control point for issuance of all internal procedures.
- Support investigations and atypical events, as well as resulting corrective or preventive action implementation:
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7 years of experience in a quality engineering function
- S./ B.A (engineering discipline preferred) or equivalent work experience
- Manufacturing experienced highly preferred.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred
- Experience in a highly regulated environment (Aerospace, Medical, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and teamwork across functional boundaries
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of technical drawings and accompanying documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to convey technical and conceptual material to individuals at all levels in customer organizations as well as within Wyman Gordon.
- Detail oriented.
US Citizenship or Perm Residency is required due to government military contracts.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply logic to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and handle deadline pressure.
