Description:Perform varies duties related to cutting out, sewing and laying out operations related to the completion of a variety upholstered components, panels, interior furnishing, etc., of any model production and/or prototype aircraft.
Follow general instructions, drawings, specifications, standard practice and recognized methods to layout, measure, cut, sew and assemble various fabrics and other materials used in upholstering interior furnishings of production and/or prototype aircraft.
Select, cut, sew and work with a wide variety of specified upholstery materials, including fabric, canvas, leather, synthetics, foam material, carpeting, insulation, soundproofing, etc.
Utilize patterns, templates, marking devices, hand or power cutters and pressing iron and power sewing machines.
Modify templates and patterns as necessary.
Layout and fit detail parts, trim, assemble units, apply adhesive, and use power sewing machine or hand sew where required.
Pull material taut to avoid wrinkles and fit material at rounded corners and edges.
As warranted, use special sewing needles; install buttons and other accessories.
Upholster various interior furnishings including seats, cushions, ceiling and wall panels, doors, related parts and components.
Responsibilities include duties to cut, sew and assemble materials to cover other aircraft components including rotor head, oil cooler, blades and engines.
Measure, cut, fit and assemble upholster material to cover accessories where patterns may not be available.
As assigned, strip and clean upholstered units and interior furnishing and renovate as specified.
Assist with installation of various upholstered components and details as directed.
Refer unusual conditions or recurring difficulties to working leader or supervisor.
Requires ability to read drawings, use decimals, fractions and measuring instruments such as scales, square, etc. Also required knowledge of industrial sewing machine operations, methods and techniques equivalent to trades training of up to 1 year. Over 3 years experience.
