H125 Job Summary

H125/Astar series Helicopter Mechanic performs the full range of helicopter aircraft maintenance and maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for overseeing and performing scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance; inspections and corrosion control of aircraft components, airframe and powerplant; maintain appropriate aircraft records and logs.
  • Reports to the Maintenance Manager and or Site Manager.
  • Must be customer oriented.
  • Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
  • Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
  • Safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
  • Perform maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
  • Use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
  • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance Information and Action Messages and all technical guidance provided through government official representatives.
  • Comply with applicable Government and FAA rules and regulations on maintenance and follow appropriate aircraft technical data.
  • Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and use required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
  • Perform daily/post-flight/thru-flight inspections as required and performs necessary maintenance to correct any malfunctions.
  • Conduct off-station maintenance when required.
  • Effectively communicate with the customer in a courteous, professional manner and research any reported aircraft discrepancies through fault isolation to make repairs.
  • Service aircraft with fuel, oil, etc. in preparation for flight.
  • Perform all duties of CDL A/Hazmat driver including keeping accurate electronic logs, adhering to all DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations.
  • Servicing and maintaining company vehicles and support equipment (i.e. external water buckets, internal water tanks, generators, etc.).
  • Maintain aircraft log books, status reports, historical and administrative data as required.
  • Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
  • May be required to function as Safety/Training/Supply point of contact in the Field environment.
  • May be required to exercise independent judgment and travel or relocate to other geographical locations including foreign countries.
  • May be required to have a passport in the performance of duties.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts. Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications.
  • Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects and is required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
  • Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
  • May be required to lead other mechanics through complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and record
Job Requirements:

Qualified applicants for agency carding yearly pay averages over six figures with a standard rotation.

Experience & Education

  • Completion of high school or equivalent
  • Two (2) or more years H125/Astar Series aviation maintenance experience within the past (6) years, with one year of field experience.
  • OEM Training for airframe and powertrain preferred
  • Experience in maintenance, modification and repair of helicopter systems of the type being serviced and their associated components.
  • Valid FAA Airframe & Power plant (A&P) License for mechanics for at least two years. Sheet metal experience is preferred.
  • U.S. person or lawful permanent resident (green card holder) preferred due to US Government contracts as well as working in environment with ITAR aircraft.
  • Valid US Passport

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, climb up and down aircraft, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.
  • Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.
  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, etc.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.
  • May work in maintenance shop or outside.
  • Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
