Job Summary
The Aircraft Mechanic Lead performs maintenance tasks and provides supervision and guidance to assigned personnel in the maintenance of assigned aircraft.
 
Principle Accountabilities
Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions.Apply technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. Apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.Make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.Coordinate maintenance efforts with section supervisors/leads to ensure the timely return of aircraft to mission capable status.Ensure that assigned personnel have access to and use adequate technical data during all phases of aircraft maintenance.Review aircraft records for accuracy and completeness. Provide on-the-job training for assigned personnel.  Within qualifications, conduct inspections of aircraft and system maintenance to ensure quality and completeness.
Knowledge & Skills
An in-depth knowledge of the applicable aircraft.A thorough working knowledge of applicable technical publication.Ability to read and write and interpret technical data and special operating instructions.Good verbal and written skills and leadership ability.
Job Requirements:
Experience & Education
A minimum of five (5) years experience maintaining Sherpa (or derivative) aircraft with at least one (1) year in the past five years.
Experience/training in Pratt and Whitney (Canada) PT6A-65R engine
Experience/training in rigging, function, test and troubleshooting on SD3-60 Sherpa system.
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required.
