POSITION / OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW

  • We’re seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic to support a full-service FAA-certified repair station located in Southwest, Pennsylvania. This facility specializes in turboprop and light/mid-size business jet aircraft, providing maintenance, inspection, modification, and interior refurbishment services across a variety of platforms.
  • The Sheet Metal Mechanic will perform structural repairs, reinforcements, and modifications to aircraft components, including skins, ribs, bulkheads, stringers, and panels. This is a hands-on, precision-driven role ideal for a technician who takes pride in craftsmanship, accuracy, and attention to detail.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform structural repairs, modifications, and reinforcements on aircraft fuselage, wings, and control surfaces.
  • Fabricate, fit, and install ribs, doublers, stringers, and panels in accordance with engineering drawings and SRMs.
  • Drill, ream, and install solid, blind, and specialty rivets while maintaining proper alignment and tolerances.
  • Remove and replace damaged structures, rivets, skins, and assemblies as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical data, and repair manuals to determine repair scope and materials.
  • Ensure all work meets FAA, OEM, and repair station standards for airworthiness and documentation accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work environment.
  • Collaborate closely with quality assurance, inspection, and other maintenance teams to support on-time delivery.
Job Requirements:
  • 6-10+ years of aircraft sheet metal or structural repair experience.
  • Turboprop or business jet aircraft experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in riveting, drilling, patching, and rib replacement
  • Strong understanding of aircraft materials, fasteners, and structural layouts.
  • Ability to read and apply blueprints, SRMs, and engineering repair instructions.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate preferred but not required.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment 7-year Criminal Background Check, and standard FAA DOT drug test.
  • Reliable personal transportation/vehicle required.
  • Valid US Driver’s License.
  • Proof of US Citizenship.
  • MUST have basic tools/box.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, climb, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the work shift.
  • Lift or move up to 50 lbs independently and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions typical of Pennsylvania, including dust, humidity, rain, sleet, snow, heat, and cold.
  • Work may involve exposure to chemicals, gases, fumes, noise, and heights.
  • Must be willing to work day or night shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed.
