Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician Program
 
Aviation Maintenance Technology is a new program at Cuesta College, officially starting in Fall 2022. The Lead Instructor will be a key player in establishing this exciting new program hosted by Cuesta College with significant industry and community support.

Employed by ACI Jet (acijet.com), the Lead Instructor is a full-time position with the majority of the individual’s time donated to Cuesta College’s AMT Program. He or she will work closely with the AMT Program Director and three part-time instructors in Cuesta College’s Engineering and Technology Division. The Lead Instructor will be the instructor-of-record for the program overseeing the day-to-day schedule and administrative requirements at the aviation maintenance teaching facility located at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (KSBP).

  • Beyond meeting the FAA’s standards, we plan to expose our graduates to emerging technologies and continually add content to our curriculum relevant to industry needs.

  • Fall 2022 classes will be Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 2 pm and Friday from 8 am to 12 pm.

NOTE: a 2-year contract and housing allowance are available for a seasoned Part 147 lead instructor who can drive a successful program launch, but isn’t looking for a long-term commitment.    
Job Requirements:
  • Any Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment ;
OR
  • Any Associate's degree from an accredited institution and six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment ;
OR
  • The equivalent. (Candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment. OR
  • A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).  
Also Required:
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.  
  • Possession of a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate;      
  • Not have served as, or was directly responsible for the oversight of, a Flight Service aviation safety inspector in the last 2 years.
Desirable:
  • Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
  • Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.

SALARY SCHEDULE
