Job Description:
The Engine Overhaul Specialist is a highly skilled technical position charged with the restoration and repair of general aviation engines to as new and / or serviceable condition as required.  Overhaul and repair experience of Continental and Lycoming aircraft engines is a must.
 
This position reports to the Engine Shop Manager for general supervision, however they are expected to work autonomously daily.  The Engine Overhaul Specialist works with other staff to disassemble, clean, inspect and obtain replacement parts as necessary and is expected to complete all phases of overhaul and repair to FAA and manufacture standards within shop time standards.
 
Key Tasks:
  • Independently disassemble, repair and reassemble a wide variety of general aviation engines to specification in a cost-effective manner with proper use of all necessary tools.
  • Tests, runs completed and repaired engines to assure proper function.
  • Work includes but is not limited to, cleaning and repairing engine parts and subassemblies and non-destructive testing.
  • Proper care and use of specialized tools.
  • Ability to read, interpret and comply with FAA regulations and Airworthiness Directives (AD’s).
  • Accurately identify and apply correct component part number and nomenclature.
  • Assure proper documentation of work performed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Job Requirements:
  • Hold an Airframe and Powerplant Certification required, IA and Machinist certification desired.
  • 4 - 6 years practical experience as an overhaul specialist of Continental and Lycoming engines.
  • Currently hold or have the qualifications to obtain a non-destructive testing certification.
  • Possess a high skill level with Precision Measurement Equipment (PME)
  • Holds a valid driver’s license.
