Job Summary:

The Pratt & Whitney Military Engines F135 Sustainment organization is seeking an experienced individual to support engine inspection / mechanic requirements at the Japan F-35 Airframe Final Assembly and Check Out (FACO) and Airframe Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul and Upgrade (MRO&U) facility in Nagoya, Japan.

This position will be part of a small P&W international team comprised of two Field Service Engineers and three Engine Technician/Inspectors.  The team will be responsible for ensuring that all Propulsion related tasks/requirements are met in support of aircraft assembly by the host customer of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI)/Japan Ministry of Defense/Lockheed Martin.

The assignment is expected to be 36 months in duration; however, it could be longer or shorter based on customer / business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure engine production requirements are accomplished to schedule and ensure quality standards are met for production (FACO) and repair (MROU) of F135 engines or modules.
  • Complete the work priorities and assigned day-to-day tasks necessary to support the scheduled production, installation and flight line activities.
  • Collaborate on a regularly basis with the local Customer, to include Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Lockheed Martin, DCMA, and Joint Program Office (JPO)
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivated, and a self- starter. This position requires an individual who is detail oriented. Accuracy in work performed is a requirement.
  • Physical requirements include being able to work atop maintenance platforms, ascend/descend maintenance stands, lift 25 pounds to a height of 4 feet, and position self to perform maintenance/inspections underneath engine rails and inside the exhaust duct.
  • Candidate must commit to 36 months in the role.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of 2+ years of Aerospace Maintenance Field experience required. Or, Associate’s degree or 2 years of post-high school training and 9 years of solid Aerospace Maintenance Field Experience is required.
  • At least 5 years of prior F135-PW-100 and F135-PW-600 shop and field experience required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Inspector Stamp prior to arrival.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Military Aerospace Maintenance experience.
  • Depot-Level (D-Level) or Intermediate level (I-level) maintenance experience is a plus
  • Borescope experience, blade blends, experience.
  • F135 engine maintenance and inspection(s) experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer service skills.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
