FAA Repair Station Chief Inspector

- Manage and coordinate Quality functions within the FAA repair station, ensuring that all work performed complies with applicable technical data, FAA regulations, Repair Station Manuals (RSM), and Quality Control Manuals.
- Ensure that all applicable Airworthiness Directives (AD) and service instructions are complied with and documented
- Determine that procedures, processes, and training are in place to ensure that no defective, unserviceable, or un-airworthy parts are installed in any component articles released by the Repair Station.
- Directly responsible for administering the inspection program to include:
- Evaluating inspection techniques, equipment, and processes across shifts and ensuring all inspections are properly performed on components at all stages of repair/overhaul.
- Verifying proper inspection processes are applied on all completed work before it is approved for return to service or other certification, and that the proper inspection and maintenance records, reports, and forms required for such release or certification are complete.
- Maintain and improve inspection process documents by collaborating with Quality Assurance and Engineering.
- Review engineering documentation for inspection requirements to ensure the proper methods, techniques and practices are established in accordance with Type Certificate Holder data or Customer requirements.
- Assist and provide training to all inspection personnel including interpretation of requirements of technical data, and proper use of inspection tools and equipment.
- Evaluate, modify, and maintain the training program.
- Ensure that proper calibration processes are established and maintained when new inspection tools are introduced. Review calibration processes and adjust methods and intervals with Accountable Manager approval.
- Oversee the final acceptance procedures for all incoming material, including new parts, supplies, and the airworthiness of articles on which work has been performed outside the Repair Station by contract.
- Review all incoming components from outside vendors and OEM suppliers when there are discrepancies. Determine acceptability of parts based on functionality and ability to be salvaged before return to supplier.
- Conduct inspections and process audits per written policies and procedures.
- Liaison with the FAA and other certification/regulatory bodies, as required.
- Interpret drawings, specifications and schematics of airframes, power plants, propellers, aircraft instrument/electronic mechanical components; and
- May perform such other duties, as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate required. Inspection Authorization (IA) highly desired.
- Must be able to understand, read, and write English
- Must have three years’ experience in the use of inspection tools and performance of inspection in a Part 145 Repair Station.
- Must have a minimum of five years of pertinent mechanical/inspection experience.
- Must have a minimum of three years of supervisory experience, preferably aviation related. ASQ Certification preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills to motivate and effectively interact with all levels in the organization.
- Experience with computers, quality auditing, statistical process control, shop supervision, or other related experience.
- Thorough understanding of FAR Part 145 and other governing regulations, general quality principles and systems, all applicable technical data, overhaul manuals, etc.
- Thorough understanding of all shop processes and how they affect airworthiness. Ability to work with Managers and Supervisors to establish inspection standards and methods and trouble shoot problems.
- Ability to investigate problems, determine root cause, and develop corrective actions.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook.
- Capacity to learn and utilize company software programs including SAP and in-house developed applications
Accredited Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience required OR Associate’s degree and 8 years of related exempt experience OR High School Diploma and 12 years’ experience (9 of which must be related exempt experience).
WORK HOURS:First Shift, 8-5
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
