Requirements:
Required Skills (top 3)
o Mechanically inclined — strong hands on aptitude with tools, fixtures, and mechanical systems; comfortable performing precise measurements and mechanical troubleshooting.
o CAD literacy — able to competently review and interpret 2D drawings and 3D CAD models (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) to guide fabrication and assembly decisions.
o Relevant mechanical or electrical experience in a FOD sensitive — background in automotive or military mechanical or electrical systems, with familiarity of mechanical assemblies, tolerances, and ruggedized component requirements.
Preferred Skills (top 3)
o Former or current military — discipline, familiarity with military standards/procedures, and experience working in structured, safety critical environments.
o 3+ years fabrication or assembly experience — demonstrated track record in metalwork, wiring/ECU integration, or mechanical assembly including soldering, riveting, welding, or sheet metal work.
o Proven team player — strong communication, ability to work across functions, and experience contributing to fast paced, collaborative project teams.
Performs machine set-up, machining, welding set-up, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks. Performs composite lay-up, fabrication and assembly tasks. Assembles precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components. Assembles, repairs, modifies and installs various power plants and drive trains. Perform soldering on electronic and avionics products. Assembles and installs wire harnesses and avionics products. Prepares test articles, fixtures and data collection devices to perform various tests. Performs basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation. Applies routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements. Works on articles of limited complexity following established drawings and requirements.
Project / Day to Day Responsibilities
Working a Safety/FOD sensitive environment, around FOD sensitive components and hardware. (FOD – Foreign object Debris / Foreign object damage).
Working in a CWA (Controlled work area) with components of varying precision cleanliness levels.
Fabricate structural, mechanical, and electrical components per engineering drawings and CAD models. Interpret 2D drawings and 3D models to layout, machine, assemble, wire, and test parts and subassemblies.
Use hand and power tools, precision measuring equipment, and fabrication equipment (e.g., drill presses, saws, presses); perform soldering, crimping, and wiring as required.
Build and validate prototypes and small production runs, perform fit checks and functional tests, and troubleshoot issues to meet design intent.
Maintain part and process documentation, follow quality and safety procedures, and log test/assembly results.
Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project leads to resolve design or manufacturability issues and support continuous improvement.
Working with and installing sensitive electronic devices or avionics sensors and other instrumentation (accelerometers, strain gauges, etc.)
