Helicopter Avionics Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Install, route, terminate, and secure aircraft wiring and cable assemblies
• Mount antennas, avionics equipment, and related electrical components
• Connect and configure NAV/COM, radios, GPS, autopilot, RVSM, engine monitoring, and passenger entertainment systems
• Troubleshoot aircraft electrical and avionics discrepancies
• Remove, repair, reinstall, and test avionics components
• Perform soldering, wiring, pinning, crimping, and connector work as needed
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical data
• Conduct functional checks to ensure avionics systems operate properly before return to service
• Verify avionics systems do not interfere with other aircraft electronic systems
• Support ground testing, flight test review, and discrepancy resolution
• Coordinate work with the Avionics Manager, aircraft maintenance technicians, and maintenance crew
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and work performed in accordance with repair station requirements

Required Qualifications

• 3 or more years of aircraft avionics, electrical systems, installation, repair, and troubleshooting experience
• Hands on helicopter or rotorcraft avionics experience required
• Experience with NAV/COM, autopilot, GPS, RVSM, radios, wiring, electrical systems, and avionics troubleshooting
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise hands on avionics work
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to support travel as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Aviation maintenance, avionics, or electrical certification
• Experience in an FAA Part 145 repair station
• Experience supporting Bell, Airbus, Leonardo, MD, or Sikorsky helicopter platforms
• Strong installation experience, including wiring, terminations, connectors, soldering, and system testing
