The Structures Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, installing, inspecting, and repairing aircraft structural components and interior furnishings in accordance with approved technical data and repair station guidelines. This role interprets engineering drawings and specifications, operates fabricating and soldering equipment, performs structural repairs to skins and components, applies protective coatings, and ensures all work meets required tolerances and safety standards. The mechanic maintains detailed maintenance records and ensures compliance with regulatory and company procedures.

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
* A minimum of 3 years of experience as a sheet metal mechanic, with at least 2 years on helicopter installations and repairs.
* Working knowledge of blueprint reading.
* Ability to use basic sheet metal hand tools.
* Familiarity with aviation maintenance manuals.
* Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
* Must have good job durations.
* Must be able to pass a sheetmetal plate test. Professional Attributes
* Drawing Interpretation: Sheetmetal technicians must be able to interpret drawings for the fabrication of parts as well as the installation of STC components.
* Fabrication:Fabrication is the process of creating airworthy parts by using AC43.13 or other approved data for repairs. Aircraft sheet metal mechanics use fabrication skills to create tools and parts for aircraft. They also use fabrication skills to repair and modify existing parts.
* Inspection:Aircraft sheet metal mechanics use inspection skills to assess the condition of aircraft parts and determine if they need repair. They also use inspection skills to ensure that the aircraft parts they install are working properly. This involves testing the parts and monitoring their performance. Job Duties & Functions
* Comply with all safety regulations and procedures while performing work.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, manuals, and specifications to determine layout requirements.
* Mark outlines or patterns on materials using measuring instruments and scribes.
* Set up and operate fabricating machines, including shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, punch presses, and drill presses, to shape parts to specifications.
* Operate soldering equipment to join sheet metal parts.
* Smooth edges and surfaces of grooves or joints using hand tools, power tools, files, or chemicals.
* Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
* Diagnose and repair structural discrepancies.
* Install structural fittings, including bulkheads, formers, stringers, ribs, and frames.
* Install insulation materials such as fiberglass or polyurethane using hand or power tools.
* Repair dents, cracks, holes, and other damage to aircraft skins using approved materials, including aluminum, composite materials, fiberglass cloth, and synthetic resins.
* Install, repair, and replace aircraft skins, structural components, insulation, carpeting, vinyl flooring, soundproofing materials, seats, paneling, and paint finishes.
* Install interior and exterior trim, including windows, doors, bulkheads, wall panels, ceilings, flooring, and staircases.
* Apply corrosion-resistant coatings such as primer or paint.
