The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all maintenance operations within a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility. This role ensures that all maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with regulatory standards (FAA, EASA, etc.), OEM specifications, and internal quality systems. The position requires strong leadership and technical expertise to drive performance, safety, and continuous improvement across all maintenance functions. This role reports to the Director of Maintenance (DOM).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term maintenance plans to optimize labor and reduce downtime.
- Ensure compliance with all FAA, customer, manufacturer, and internal regulatory standards.
- Oversee timely execution and documentation of work packages, work orders, and return-to-service processes.
- Supervise and support personnel to ensure optimal motivation, efficiency, and discipline.
- Lead, mentor, and develop technicians and support staff within the maintenance team.
- Promote and enforce safety compliance; identify and mitigate hazards and report safety concerns to the DOM.
- Ensure maintenance work, materials, and practices align with regulatory and quality standards.
- Manage on-the-job training and validate that only qualified personnel perform designated tasks.
- Oversee lead technicians' completion of work orders, documentation, and daily turnover logs.
- Collaborate with materials and scheduling teams to expedite parts and resources needed for maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
