Amentum is looking for a qualified Mechanic 2 Weapons for a position lasting from 6-10 months at Holloman AFB, NM.  The contract is coming to a close in May of 2022 and we need your help closing it out.
 
 This position is governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). This contract consists of F-16 Block 40 aircraft Organizational level (O-level) assigned to the 49th Maintenance Group, 8th Aircraft Maintenance Units (AMU) contractor operation and Intermediate level (I-Level) to support flying training for the 49th Wing (49 WG), Air Education and Training Command (AETC) training mission at Holloman AFB (HAFB), NM.
The Mechanic 2 Weapons loads, positions, performs safing operations, and unloads munitions. Uses handling, loading, and checkout procedures and equipment. Tests suspension, launch, and release systems for retentive locking, and manual or electrical release. Analyzes malfunctions. Performs functional checks of launch and suspension systems. Prepares munitions and inspects post loading weapons. Operates handling and loading equipment, and mates munitions with aircraft release, launch, and suspension systems. Loads and services aircraft gun systems. Tests electrical and electronic circuitry for continuity, voltage, and proper operation. Tests for unwanted electrical signal or power before connecting electrically actuated explosives and propellants. Installs ground safety devices on munition and gun system components to prevent inadvertent detonation, launching, or firing. Inserts and removes impulse cartridges associated with fuel tanks and pylons.
Essential responsibilities:
Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Must be a High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
  • Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
  • A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Five (5) years actual and recent aircraft maintenance experience, and one (1) year of F-16 or other fighter aircraft experience highly desired.  Note:  The Mechanic 2 Weapons will possess a minimum of 2W171 or equivalent experience. 
  • Knowledge is mandatory of: electricity; principles of physics, mechanics, electronics, and ballistics applying to munitions launch, release, suspension, fusing, and arming systems, and aircraft gun systems; use of precision measuring tools and equipment; interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams; concepts and application of maintenance directives; nuclear and nonnuclear munitions loading and safety procedures; and proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials.
