JOB SUMMARY:
To prepare and bag metal bond parts and assemblies for the curing process. May be required to workÂ
under the guidance of higher-grade operators.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works from specifications, blueprints, oral and written instructions to record pertinent adhesiveÂ
information, form and lay-up component parts and assemblies such as fiberglass, graphite, metal,Â
and Kevlar in proper relationship according to standard shop practices where tooling and holdingÂ
fixtures are usually available, and to perform a variety of operations necessary to prepare metalÂ
parts and assemblies for autoclave or oven curing process. Requires the ability to plan andÂ
perform a sequence of operations where standard lay-up methods are available, whileÂ
independent action is also required to use these standards to comply with the different partsÂ
configuration and geometry.Â
- Selects proper holding fixtures, bonding materials, proper size bleeders, bagging materials, andÂ
specified materials. Requires some judgment to fit and align component parts in proper sequenceÂ
and specific location in bond fixture. Uses care to avoid contamination of surfaces from foreignÂ
substances such as dust or release agents. Applies various adhesives to bond component partsÂ
together. Clamps and secures parts in holding fixtures. Uses some judgment to trim, fit, and sealÂ
bleeder and bag over areas to be bonded to obtain uniform vacuum pressure. Connects hose to
port and checks for leaks, wrinkles, tears, and proper seal.Â
- Moves tools and parts to and from ovens. May cut away bagging materials and remove excessÂ
material or tape from holding fixtures. Uses measuring devices, and hand and power tools asÂ
required.Â
- Inspect, remove details from process rack, and match details to production order.Â
- Responsible only for quality of own work.
- Performs other related duties as required.
