About the role:
The ‘Training Equipment Mechanical & Electrical Maintainer is responsible to the Regional Training Equipment Manager (Southwest) for the level 2/3 maintenance and repair of various trainers, simulators, and training delivery support equipment in the Southwest of England with occasional travel to other areas as required.
Skills and Experience
Requirements
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Understanding of Royal Navy and RFA electrical and mechanical equipment and processes.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical diagrams.
- BS 7671 18th Edition.
Desirable
- IT competent.
- Capable of achieving Security Clearance (SC)
- Full UK Driving License.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of Royal Navy training equipment, including motors, pumps, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical defects by interpreting diagrams, using diagnostic tools, and testing equipment.
- Implement planned maintenance schedules to prevent equipment failure.
- Responsible for updating the Maintenance tool with appropriate updates following any maintenance activity (currently TABS Ethos).
- Ensure all work follows appropriate safety regulations including DefStan’s and RN BR’s.
- Responsible for ensuring that escorted visitors and contractors use appropriate PPE.
- Be ‘Responsible for championing and fostering a culture of “Safety First” and EHS compliance.
- Responsible for a pro-active and continuous improvement attitude.
- Act as the ‘Project Engineer’ for the RAST training unit.
- To carry out any reasonable tasks as directed by the Training Equipment Manager which may occasionally arise.
