Job Description:

The Continuous Process Improvement Coordinator (CPIC) will provide support, expertise and direction to program staff regarding: the creation, analysis and utilization of program outcomes and indicators, evidence based practices, as well as compliance with licensing, legal, funding, and accreditation standards. The CPIC position works closely with programs and must have the ability to think at a systemic level to ensure customer needs are met in accordance with contractual statements of work (SOW).  The CPIC position must obtain strong analysis, evaluation, communication and implementation skills to succeed in this positon.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

FACILITATE the necessary changes to achieve process improvements. Challenge old ways of doing business and act as a change agent. Drive projects to deliver significant operational improvement and financial benefit in aviation maintenance, overhaul and repair operations. Partner with Process Owners and Champions to drive results.

DATA ANALYSIS and INTERPRETATION, Improve measurement processes, perform analysis using appropriate tools and interpret the results using critical thinking to reach sound conclusions and make reasonable and doable recommendations. Establish metrics applicable to the various programs and at the headquarters level.  Work with the team to implement the recommendations, verify impact, and establish a control plan. Act as change agent to instill a culture of change throughout the programs. Monitor performance and improvements in key metrics.  Develop and deploy measurement systems analysis (MSA) in order to baseline problem and measure improvement.

UTILIZATION OF LEAN / 6 SIGMA TOOLS to reduce and/or eliminate waste.  Understanding and can perform value stream mapping (process mapping), the 8 wastes, 6S, policy deployment (strategic goals deployment) and standardized work.  Problem solving utilizing 6 Sigma methodology with the phases of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, & Control in an effort to make data driven decisions to improve.  Develop visual aids that identify critical to quality (CTQ) characteristics to prevent errors from reoccurring. 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferred but not necessary
  • Lean certification preferred
  • 6 Sigma certification (yellow, green, or black belt) preferred
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in waste reduction or quality management initiatives
  • Willingness to travel to the business unit sites (CONUS or OCONUS)
  • Leadership ability with skills to facilitate cross-functional teams experience
  • 3 years of experience in aviation contracts, preferably in continuous improvement, operations, or quality
  • Ability to influence peers and higher level managers
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to write / update policies & procedures to improve applicability to various projects
  • Proficiency in Windows, Minitab, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and simulation software

 

 

Physical Demands:

 

This position requires the candidate to interact extensively with personnel on the hangar shop floor, flight line, in backshop areas, warehouses, etc. Typical physical demands or activities include standing, bending, stooping, pushing, kneeling, reaching, walking, and climbing stairs/platforms.  May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 25 pounds.
