JOB SUMMARY:
To fabricate, form, roll, joggle, punch, pierce, blank, coin dimple, hand drill and press a variety of aircraft details. Fabrication Forming 2 may be required to perform the duties and essential functions of Fabrication Forming 3.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Sets up and operates various sizes of form, roll, joggle, punch, pierce, blank, hand drill and press equipment to fabricate aircraft details to specified dimensions, tolerances, and company specifications, with the use of hand tools, blueprints, hard tools, measuring instruments, and shop aids. Exercises judgment to plan and layout operational and set up sequences, performs routine duties in loading/unloading raw material, and performs simple hand forming and straightening operations.
a. Uses oil or soap solution to lubricate details, places material on forming device along with necessary coverings to ensure correct form.
b. Monitors equipment and notifies supervision or maintenance of any problems.
c. Determines amount of pressure necessary according to form requirements and sets equipment appropriately.
d. Visually checks tooling to prevent damage to equipment and formed details.
e. Uses templates and fixtures to drill extrusion parts.
II. Sets up and operates various portable and stationary coin dimpling machines to coin dimple various sheet metal parts and air foil sections.
a. Sets up and adjusts coin and ram pressure, dwell time, air pressure and heat controls as specified.
b. Readjusts machine settings as required to obtain correct coin dimple.
III. Responsible for utilizing safe work habits.
IV. Uses material or tool moving equipment as required, and maintains and stores tools.
V. Responsible for housekeeping and cleanliness of area.
VI. Responsible for confirming own labor performance correctly.
VII. Responsible for the quality of own work.
VIII. Performs other related duties as required
