Aircraft Painter
Location: Lexington, KY
Position Summary
Hire Aviation is seeking an experienced Aircraft Painter for a long-term Contract-to-Direct opportunity in Lexington, Kentucky. This position is responsible for preparing, masking, painting, and refinishing aircraft in accordance with customer specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience painting corporate, general aviation, military, or commercial aircraft and possess a strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting, including sanding, stripping, cleaning, masking, and priming.
- Mix and apply paints, primers, and coatings in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Perform complete aircraft paint projects, touch-ups, and refinishing work.
- Read and interpret paint drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain paint equipment, spray guns, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Follow all OSHA, EPA, and company safety procedures.
- Work effectively with maintenance, production, and quality teams to meet project deadlines.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with applicable aviation standards and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of aircraft painting experience.
- Experience painting corporate, business aviation, general aviation, military, or commercial aircraft.
- Knowledge of aircraft paint preparation techniques and finishing processes.
- Experience using spray equipment and mixing paint systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with helicopter platforms or general aviation / corporate aircraft preferred!
- Experience with complete aircraft strip and paint projects.
- Familiarity with aerospace coatings and paint systems.
Requirements
- Must have your own tools.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to work in a MRO / hangar environment and meet physical demands of the position.
