Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible to the Chief Pilot for the operation and maintenance of Authority aircraft and hangar.
 
1. Serves as Pilot-in-Command of the TRA airplane when directed by the Chief Pilot.
 
2. Responsible for pre-flight and post-flight inspections of the Authority's aircraft.
 
3. Responsible for maintaining the Authority's aircraft, including maintaining inspection and maintenance records, shop equipment, tools, and spare parts inventory. * A detailed description of these duties is available in the Aircraft Operations Manual.
Job Requirements:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.
 
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Must maintain responsibility and accountability of company-issued Purchasing Card.  
 
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION
(required level of education)
High school diploma or GED.
 
EXPERIENCE
(minimum years and types of related experience required) Six hundred hours of logged flying time in powered aircraft, including 500 hours as pilot-in-command. Would prefer minimum of 200 hours logged as multi-engine PIC.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
(any specialized certifications licenses or registrations required by TRA or other authority in order to do the job, including those the incumbent must be able to obtain)
Commercial Pilot License with Multi-Engine and Instrument ratings required.
Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
Must possess FAA Aircraft and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate, with preference given to previous turbine-powered aircraft maintenance experience.
 
KNOWLEDGE
(Information or facts than employee must know in order to be able to perform the work)
Must possess sufficient knowledge of aircraft systems, structure, and operations to be able to inspect, repair, and operate the Authority’s aircraft. .
 
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
(developed capability to use or apply knowledge effectively or dexterity/coordination in the performance of physical tasks)
Highest degree of concentration is required during flight operations, with the ability to respond quickly after enduring long waiting periods. Promptness and courtesy are
essential, especially when in contact with public officials, TRA Directors and Management. Mathematical abilities needed to determine aircraft performance and
navigational procedures. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
 
GUIDANCE RECEIVED
Guided by TRA Mission and Goals. Makes decisions with guidance provided by TRA mission, policies and goals. Sets related goals, objectives and priorities for the flight department and gains executive approval.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires moderate physical exertion with daily lifting requirements of up to 50 pounds.  Must be physically able to remove and install equipment, furnishings, and rotable equipment while working on the aircraft.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions during flight may be somewhat uncomfortable and require long periods of waiting before resuming flight.
Subject to irregular hours and inclement weather.
 
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Must possess appropriate hand and power tools required to facilitate repairs and perform inspections on TRA's aircraft. TRA owns or will lease any specialized equipment or tooling required for compliance with the aircraft manufacturer’s required maintenance and inspection schedule.
