Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all training is conducted in accordance with company policies and directives and that they comply with the appropriate government and regulatory agencies
  • Directly supervise the Check Airmen/Instructors responsible for pilot training and ensure that they have the tools required to perform their duties; responsible for overall quality assurance of Check Airmen / Instructor performance
  • Provides technical support to support line operations; develops and maintains the FCOM and associated Bulletins; maintains Fleet Aircraft MEL, CDL, SDL, SEL, and Performance Manuals
  • Responsible for the development of training and standardization policies, curricula, and guides for pilots, check airmen, and instructors
  • Maintain close working relationships with appropriate internal and external organizations, including: FAA, ATA, vendors, Flight and In-flight administration, HR, Safety, Maintenance, ALPA, AFA and Customer Service.
  • Conducts continual analysis of training methods and procedures and recommends improvements that result in professional, high quality and cost-effective training programs
  • Responsible for and participates in the selection of check airmen and instructors
  • Monitors activities of the simulator, ground school instructors and check airmen to ensure adequate resources are available and that checking and instructing are standardized
  • Oversee and approve the development and publication of all training materials for the training curriculum, training aids, the Training Program Manual and Instructor Guide
  • Professional development, and other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Seven years of experience in Part 121 air carrier operations or equivalent experience
  • Broad supervisory experience leading individual employees as well as proven effective, people-focused leadership skills
  • Demonstrated competence in effective project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines and budget guidelines
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective professional partnerships at all levels of a company and with companies, organizations, people outside of HA; credible; consistently presents self professionally (verbally, non-verbally, in writing, through behaviors, and dress and grooming)
  • Knowledge and experience regarding the regulatory requirements involved in maintaining FAA Approved Training Program Manual documentation
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal relationship and customer-focus skills; works effectively in teams, work groups, task teams, and independently
  • Demonstrated competence with technology
  • Self-starter, organized, detail-oriented with excellent follow through skills
  • Creative, able to create a motivational environment for employees; proven ability to affect/create positive change
  • Able to travel to all HA locations; must be able to hold a valid HA driver's license; able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
  • Current Hawaiian Airlines seniority listed pilots must maintain flight qualifications and currency
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree from a four-year accredited college or university
  • Ten years of experience in Part 121 air carrier operations or equivalent experience
