Purpose of Position

Discover, interpret, and communicate engineering concepts using visual methods and the written word to support efficient, effective equipment installation, set-up, and troubleshooting of complex machines.

Location:  Hazelwood, MO & Broken Arrow, OK


Tasks and Knowledge/Abilities

  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, field service, and publication teams to lead excellence and clarity of visual technical publications to drive efficient and effective equipment installation, set-up, and troubleshooting processes, done right the first time.

  • Use the English language concisely, accurately, and expressively; interpret drawings and documentation; experience with storyboarding and expert at communication with visual methods.

  • Develop effective lines of communication with technical experts, including ability to interview, listen, and document lessons learned to continuously improve documentation to mistake-proof installation, set-up, and troubleshooting processes.

  • Generate line drawings to illustrate technical systems, concepts, and process sequencing using available software such as Design Cad or Corel Draw.

  • Originate technical write-ups by relating technical knowledge acquired using desktop publishing software.

  • Define writing assignment requirements associated with standard documents and layout all tasks necessary to satisfactorily complete documentation generation normally required for complex machine installation, set-up, troubleshooting, and acceptance.

  • Act as lead writer, training and directing others in the completion of associated tasks and the use of PC publishing programs and associated application packages.

  • Ability to utilize critical/process/systems thinking to contribute input to optimizing installation processes, to clarify set-up and troubleshooting, and to eliminate rework.

  • Assist in planning and performing support documentation projects and activities and complete all tasks associated with technical writing assignments, meeting program schedule and quality of work expectations.

  • Develop, monitor, and use budgets and schedules dealing with both hours and dollars.

  • Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and/or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FSI proprietary materials, projects, and business information.


Job Requirements:
Minimum Education/Minimum Experience

Associate degree in applicable degree program.

 A minimum of three years’ experience in direct technical support of digital, and analog flight simulators, or complex machine building/installation/set-up/troubleshooting, or related equipment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
