Flight Operations Technician

We are seeking a Flight Operations Technician
As a Flight Operations Technician, you will be a core member of the flight operations team. The Flight Operations Technicians support pre-flight, launch, and recovery of high-altitude balloons and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Contributing to a safe environment, including flight safety and the safe operation of equipment, powered, and hand tools is essential to being successful at NSC. Flight Ops Techs strengthen the company by applying their mechanical component fabrication skills, assisting engineers with integration and testing of flight system hardware, and following flight checklists and processes. A successful Flight Operations Technician assists with flight operations and maintenance efforts.
What You Will Do for UAS and High-Altitude Balloon operations
- Implements engineering designs to build and develop components
- Performs regular inspections of all safety and operational equipment
- Maintains work records, maintenance and repair logs, FAA and other documentation, etc.
- Maintains adequate inventory of parts, supplies, and equipment
- Performs flight ops activities per flight schedules and in collaboration with internal teams
- Assists with launch operations and other flight line activities
- Assists with deployments to support customer testing and operations
- Participates in recovery efforts
- Position requires 10-20% travel
Flexibility and Adaptability
What You Need to Be Successful
2 years of experience with aviation operations (manned or unmanned)
Must possess or be able to obtain FAA Class II Medical Certificate
Proficient in Microsoft applications Office including: Word, Excel, E-mail, and web-enabled apps
Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Education and Experience
Associates degree in a technical field
Possess FAA 14 CFR Part 107 UAS Certificate
Possess FAA 14 CFR Part 91 Private Pilot Certificate
Familiarity with unmanned operations
Forklift and/or Crane Operator certification
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – HAZMAT endorsement
