UAS Technician and External Pilot

Griffon Aerospace, a leader in the exciting Unmanned Aerial System industry, is seeking a highly skilled UAS Technician and External Pilot. The candidate will work in a rapid flight testing and development environment on next-generation fixed-wing vertical-takeoff and landing platforms (Groups 2 and 3). Typical flight test activities will be conducted using autonomous flight control and navigation, but candidates must have remote pilot experience to manually control the developmental aircraft as needed. This is a limited travel position and located in Madison, AL. The successful candidate will be a highly organized self-starter who has direct, hands-on experience assembling, modifying, repairing, and manually flying unmanned aircraft systems from 21 to 1320 lbs. This position will require personnel to develop and verify procedures for use with new aircraft features and participate in the development of operational and safety procedures and training syllabus coursework. The candidate must have strong prototyping experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

• FAA Private Pilot License preferred.
• FAA Class II medical certificate, or ability to qualify
• Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain
• Previous professional UAV or R/C flying experience
• Piccolo, PX4, or ArduPilot Experience a Must
• Understanding of The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and experience in UAS industry
• Experience maintaining aircraft maintenance and flight records a plus
• Perform equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Must be able to utilize a variety of computer applications including MS Office, and other on-line cloud storage and data transfer tools.
• Experience with carbon fiber, fiberglass, and resin
• Have hands-on experience with aircraft system assembly processes
• Have experience with common hand tools and power tools
• Must be able to read drawings and shop planning/work instructions
• Must have a safety-oriented attitude on and off-site
• Must be able to lift 45 pounds
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, staff, customers, and industry
• Selected candidates will be required to complete a flight skills assessment using a small multi-rotor trainer aircraft and a fixed-wing aircraft
