Summary
The primary responsibility of an A & P Technician is to complete aviation maintenance tasks in accordance with current Freedom Aviation policies and procedures, manufacturer instructions, and FAA regulations applicable to the maintenance and alteration of aviation products and appliances. Responsible for performing maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, and alterations to aircraft, aircraft systems, and their parts/components. The technician should have a working knowledge of aviation maintenance practices and Freedom Aviation forms, programs, and operations. Must be able to perform all tasks in a timely manner and in accordance with current Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer’s instructions, operator’s general maintenance manuals, and any other approved data.
 
Essential Functions
  • Ensure parts removed from aircraft or part thereof are correctly tagged and preserved
  • Verify all forms and documents entered into the Repair Station log are complete, accurate, and legible
  • Assist in initiating stores requisitions for the replacement of parts and/or components
  • Ensure repairs and alterations to parts and components are accomplished in an airworthy fashion
  • Notify crew chief when conditions arise that may cause a delay in performing assigned duties
  • Ensure all work areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition
  • All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
  • Must hold a current FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant license
  • Must be able to follow standards, methods, and procedures used by the Repair Station in compliance with all applicable manufacturer’s specifications and recommendations and Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Must have access to the appropriate tools to accomplish assignments, except for required calibrated tooling and/or equipment
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
Physical Aspects
  • Must be able to perform moderately strenuous physical tasks
  • Must be capable of working in confined spaces or at minor elevations
  • Must be able to sit, stand, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and be able to work overhead for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, and lift equipment from ground level to waist and overhead
  • Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination
  • Must be able to regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects and tools
  • Must have the ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away
  • Must have the ability to focus on one source of sound and ignore others
  • Must have the ability to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
  • Must be able to distinguish between colors, shades and brightness
  • Must be able to read; communicate verbally and/or in written form; remember and analyze certain information; and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines
  • Safety Sensitive; this position requires participation in a DOT drug/alcohol testing program
