Job Description:

The Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for assigning and coordinating work assignments with Crew Chiefs; assumes responsibility for all maintenance functions for all aircraft being worked on in the Repair Station both at home base and deployed fire installations. This position also manages payroll, overtime, and monitors daily work functions to include forecasting rest requirements to maintain mechanics to be available for contract maintenance. The Maintenance Ops Manager will act as the Director of Maintenance when delegated or in the absence of the Director of Maintenance. This position requires an Airframe and Powerplant License.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform these essential duties satisfactorily:

  • • Leads the Maintenance Department in an organized and professional manner, following industry standards and set best practices as established by FAA and Bridger Aerospace RSQCM.
  • • Schedule regular progress meetings with Leads, Technicians, and all relevant department heads and personnel concerning operational requirements and activities.
  • • Cultivates the Company’s mission, vision, values, and culture to provide a safe and healthy work environment;
  • • Leads by example regarding company policies, supports the Maintenance team of employees, maintains operations, follows directives, and upholds the company’s policies and personnel procedures;
  • • Maintains professional continuing education (CE) training, if required for assigned work duties.
  • • Works independently and within a team as required by the specifics of each project;
  • • Appraise performance of subodinates and submit them to next level of management for review.
  • • Must be able to work nights and weekends and have a flexible travel schedule.
  • • Must have open minded flexibility and excellent communication skills.
  • • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.


  • • Managing, coaching, disciplining employees in the Maintenance department;
  • • Responsible for the review and approval of employee expenses and time sheets related to maintenance operations.
  • • Manage labor hours to meet Repair Station revenue and cost budgets.
  • • Advises upper management on the best course of action regarding employees for hire, performance, promotions/ demotions, pay rates, coaching, discipline, and separations;
  • • Oversees and manages the employee schedules for the department;
  • • Inspects maintenance progress, and holds employees accountable;
  • • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.


  • • Associates degree in Aviation Maintenance or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. An A&P License and four years of related aircraft experience may offset the associates degree.
  • • Minimum 8 Years Directly involved in Aircraft maintenance to include 4 years in-service maintenance experience on turbo-prop aircraft.
  • • Minimum 5 years direct involvement in 135 or 145 policies or procedures.
  • • Previous experience as a team lead, crew chief, or manager required.
  • • Thorough Knowledge of Aviation Maintenance Standard Practices, Paperwork, and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • • Effective verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

  • • Knowledge of Standard Shop Practices and 5S Protocol.
  • • Knowledge of best management practices and how to effectively communicate using varied techniques

Licenses/Certifications Required:

Valid and Current Airframe and Powerplant Certificate (minimum 5 years) Combination of AME/A&P considered.

Valid Drivers License with clean driving record.

Valid Passport.


There will be travel required, especially during the summer months/ fire season. This travel will be to other locations, that may be remote and at times, may be last minute or unexpected. Travel will frequently be for at least a 24-hour period and may be longer. Percentage of Travel: Up to 75.
