Job Description:
The University of Nebraska at Kearney, Aviation Systems Management program, is searching for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, or Associate Professor. This position will assume overall leadership of the Aviation Systems Management program as part of a succession plan. The planned start date is August 2018, or January 2019 if necessary. The successful candidate will join a program having a strong history of service and developing aviation professionals in flight operations and aviation management. Teaching responsibilities will be based upon the strengths of the individual selected but may include one or more of the following areas: Aviation Safety, Aviation Law, Airport Management, Air Traffic Control, UAS/Airline/Corporate Operations, Human Factors, 14 CFR Part 141 Pilot Ground Schools, Advanced Aircraft Systems, Aerodynamics, and other courses as appropriate. An active and productive research / scholarship agenda is a requirement for candidates at the Assistant or Associate Professor Rank (tenure-track). Strong interest in service to the University and community as well as student advising/engagement is expected. In addition to their teaching and research activities, the successful candidate will also provide the vision and leadership required to support and enhance the mission of the Aviation Systems Management program. Primary administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Program development/management; Supervision and mentoring faculty and students; Assessment and accreditation leadership; FAA and UNK International Studies liaison; Coordination of student recruitment and retention efforts; Lead and develop aviation industry relations; and Coordination with flight training vendor.
Job Requirements:
 
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field is required for a Lecturer (non-tenure track) position. (Individuals that are ABD or are Masters qualified and interested in a “Grow Your Own” program towards a Doctoral degree are encouraged to apply.) Applicants must have significant relevant aviation industry experience and a passion for teaching. A current Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single Engine, Multiengine and Instrument Airplane ratings as well as third class or higher medical certificate.
 
Preferred Qualifications: PhD. or EdD. in a related field and experience in assessment / outcomes based
accreditation.
