AH-64D Apache Longbow Instructor Pilot conducts mobile training for the AH-64D aircraft qualification course for U.S. pilots. Executes training involving AH-64D attack helicopter operational readiness support. This support includes individual aviator readiness level progression and pilot-in-command training, in the United States and potentially overseas. Provides classroom academic instruction to pilots on all required subjects listed in the TC 3-04.42 Aircrew Training Manual, Directorate of Doctrine and Training approved Flight Training Guide, and/or as requested by the supported aviation commander. Develops and produces hands on training in the AH-64D Apache Attack Helicopter and compatible high fidelity AH-64D training simulators. Provides POI based instruction in a variety of flight related subjects including, but not limited to, contact, night systems (NS) of Night Vision Goggles (NVG); Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR); Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Systems (MTADS); day, night (unaided); Visual Metrological Conditions (VMC); Instrument Metrological Conditions (IMC); Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) airspace procedures; terrain flight; gunnery operations and employment; Additionally, trains and prepares aviators for combat by training and evaluating Combat Maneuvering Flight (CMF); air-ground operations; employment of Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE); Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) operation and employment; operation of Blue Force Tracker (BFT); Implements the supported units Aircrew Training Program (ATP); certifies and documents training in accordance with U.S. Army regulations and local standard operating procedures.
