Summary:
Removal and reinstallation of structural brackets, supports, vents, tubes, and component assemblies in aircraft fuel tanks.
Additional Sills:
Performs dry capacity checks
FOD free inspections prior to tank closure, fuel tank leak repairs/leaks checks, and drain/air purge fuel tanks.
Required to perform fuel system maintenance & pressurization checks as required.
Required to perform Resistance Measurement and Seal installations to support fuel systems
Performs fuel tank maintenance safety tasks including clearing the aircraft when applying electrical power, using grounding safety devices, performing lock-out/tag-out, and performing Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) tests.
Defuels and refuels aircraft as required.
Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures manuals.
Read and follow the and provided technical data, blueprints, engineering drawings, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing specifications in the maintenance processes.
Provides troubleshooting knowledge, inspection, repair, modification, replacement of aircraft fuel components and systems and follow-on operational checks.
The mechanic will be required to access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests.
Perform efforts associated with flight controls installation, removal and rigging.
Landing gear ops check, door rigging and servicing of aircraft
Required Skills:
2+ years of experience working as a fuel tank aircraft mechanic
2+ years experience reading schematics, technical data and work instructions
Ability to work rotating shifts
Ability to Perform the Following Requirements:
The candidate must be able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.
Exposure to noise, working on elevated platforms
Use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hand, and arms as required.
Pass visual acuity and color perception tests
Experience understanding and interpreting detailed written and verbal work instructions and processes
Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous material
Obtain & maintain training certifications as required to support assignment responsibilities
Occasional (1 to 3 hrs) finger manipulation
On occasion, a 2-person lift may be necessary for weights greater than 50 lbs
Frequent reaching overhead (3 to 6 hrs)
Frequent walking on flat surfaces
Frequent standing flat or uneven surfaces
Frequent balancing on a ladder, steps, or uneven surfaces
Occasional climbing on 3-12 ft ladders or stands
Rotation of head/neck, sitting, crawling, squatting, bend/stoop, lying down, and operate foot controls for an extended period of time
Occasional contact with metals
Frequent exposure to noise
Able to work various shifts and/or an alternate baseline schedule that may frequently change to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays.
Mission requirements and/or workload may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime
Desired Skills:
Experience with Depot Level/General maintenance procedures.
Experience reading and follow the and provided technical data, blueprints, engineering drawings, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing specifications in the maintenance processes.
Familiar with performing lock-out/tag-out, and performing Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) tests.
