Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting practices, reconciliations, month end reporting and other accounting coverage. This role is based out of our Bedford, NS office or the Ottawa, ON office and participates in Hybrid work. The role is in office three (3) days per week.
As Accountant, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform moderately complex tasks for the company’s accounting function
- Maintain general ledger accounts, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Prepare journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations
- Assist with month end and year end closing processes
- Assist with accounts payable / receivable as required
- Support preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Assist with audits, tax filings and regulatory reporting
- Identify and recommend process improvements and efficiencies
- Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on best practices
- Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records
What you need to be successful in this role:
- Degree/diploma in Accounting with 2-3 years directly related experience
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong foundation in financial accounting and tax basics
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage deadlines during close periods
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders
Salary range for this position is $77,000-$97,000 CAD
