Responsibilities

This person reports to the Finance Manager, Japan. He/ She is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and analyses of all facets of the financial operations of the company, including financial statement preparation, cash management, budget preparation and analyses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and all other fiscally related duties on International transactions mainly.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:Identify the major, specific end results that the position is responsible for achieving. (Not statements of day-to-day details, duties or responsibilities.)

Accounting1.    Managing financial transactions and documents2.    Streamlining accounting functions and operations with Shared Service Team.3.    Performing month-end and year-end close processes4.    Preparation of monthly account reconciliation for both non-key and key accounts using Blackline.

Reporting & Analysis1.    Overseeing and preparing income statements, balance sheet, cash flow.2.    Assist in the preparation of fluctuation and trend analysis and provide relevant explanation for any variance with Finance Manager/Controller.3.    Participating in budgeting processes

Compliance1.    Ensuring compliance with accounting and financial regulations2.    Act as liaison with consultants in relation to audits & other assessment matters of W/H tax, Consumption tax and Income Tax as required from time to time. 3.    Assist Finance Manager/Controller in providing the internal and external auditors, and other stakeholders the audit requests, relevant financial reports, and other ad-hoc requirements. 

Qualifications

MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS:(The requirements that an individual must absolutely possess to perform the essential functions of the job.)

1.    Typically requires a minimum of 3 years related working experience, preferably in a multinational manufacturing organization or a trading company2.    Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Engineering related discipline.3.    Good knowledge of accounting theory, principles & practices. (Japan Statutory & US GAAP). 4.    Motivated, Self-starter with strong works ethic.5.    Resident in either Tokyo or Kofu. Hands on approach, patient and willingness to travel.6.    Oral and written skills in both English and Japanese.7.    Computer proficiency, with an emphasis on ERP, SBO, JD Edwards, Microsoft products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

NON-MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Not absolutely required but will enhance the applicant’s/employee’s chances for success.)

1.    Master’s degree in Finance or business related is preferable.2.    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong ability to consult and influence business stakeholders (internal and external) on strategic decision making and problem solving.
