STS Technical Services is hiring a Controller to join our client’s growing manufacturing team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is an opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to lead accounting operations within a fast-paced, engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.
Position Overview
The Controller will manage all aspects of financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective cost management. This role is hands-on, strategic, and highly visible — perfect for an experienced leader looking to make an immediate impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Support company growth initiatives as a key member of the management team
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership for informed decision-making
- Conduct cost analysis to identify trends, reduce expenses, and improve profitability
- Lead job costing and profitability reporting processes, ensuring accurate actual-to-estimate analysis
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures that support scalability and cost control
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger transactions
- Manage and mentor accounting team members to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
- Supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and internal controls
- Manage cash flow to maintain proper liquidity and operational efficiency
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting, monitoring performance against targets
- Maintain strong relationships with external partners including auditors, tax professionals, and banks
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, ideally within manufacturing
- Proven track record of leadership and financial management success
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency with ERP systems, including cost accounting modules and reporting tools
