Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineered parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is seeking an FP&A Analyst to join the team on a temporary basis until the end of July 2026. This role will support increased workload and contribute to the audit of financial statements.

Ontic is a success story in the world of aerospace & defence.  Founded around 50 years ago, Ontic was spun out of BBA into the ownership of CVC in 2019 since when it has thrived as a stand-alone business. Ontic has a unique business model – we licence complex components that other companies no longer wish to make and guarantee their supply through the long remaining life of the aircraft fleets we serve.  We operate across many, even most, military and civil platforms with over 6,000 different parts.

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the control and reporting of SG&A cost across the Cleeve Ontic site, and ownership of Capex progress reporting and control. To ensure the integrity and reliability of monthly financial outputs relating to SG&A. Demonstrated by way of timely, accurate and informative month end information which can help senior management and the wider business to understand key performance drivers.

Main responsibilities:

  • Ownership of SG&A accounting and reporting for the Site, contributing to monthly management accounts. Working with Heads of Departments to ensure spend accurately reported and within Budget. 
  • Business Partnering with relevant operational heads to properly understand cost drivers, and challenge and support as necessary. Maintain integrity of SG&A cost centres. Develop reporting tools as required.
  • Support the month end close process, with responsibility for SG&A P&L, Prepayments, Accruals and elements of Intercompany. Seek efficiency in process, and look to improve accuracy and automation of SG&A reporting..
  • Supporting the company’s annual audit process by maintaining accurate and detailed audit trails and supporting audit queries.
  • In month review of trend, and proactive resolution of miscodes or balances to investigate through the month with proper Interrogation of issues and errors.
  • Maintenance of accruals against relevant support and maintaining continuing review to ensure their accuracy.
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations of nominals responsible for.
  • Conduct Overhead Reviews with relevant Business Partners.
  • Track Capex spend to Budget, both generally and against significant specific projects, and support the business with appropriate reporting. 
  • Posting and reconciling items that relate to revenue, cost of sales and royalties, including both P&L and B/S nominals
  • Support the organisations budgeting and forecasting process, including but not limited to data gathering and analysis to feed into site and group reporting.
  • Contribution to the management report pack by working day 5, including a full analysis of financial information, detailing variance to budgets, forecasts, and prior year.
  • Ensure that appropriate internal and external controls and financial accounting standards are adhered to in the preparation and completion of month end journals and reports to safeguard business assets.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience: 

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA / CIMA).
  • Strong System capability and Advanced Excel Skills (lookups, pivots etc.).
  • Ability to communicate confidently at all levels and be able to explain financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Able to establish and develop business relationships across all functions.
  • Able to embrace and actively support change in a rapidly progressive organisation.
  • Aptitude to work effectively under pressure and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work within the broader business context, but also provides the practical application to “Get the job done”.
