An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Controller to join the Typhoon Total Availability Enterprise (TyTan) Manage Business Team. The TyTAN programme is a transformational and innovative contracting approach to deliver Typhoon support activities within the UK as part of a 10-year contract. The TyTAN direct agreement, signed between The Business and UK MoD covers the full 10-year period and delivers an operational support service to the UK RAF as well as European Partner Nations
This role is required to support the TyTAN Contract Manage Business Team in all aspects of project control including PCS maintenance and accuracy, Risk management, Budget and Spend monitoring and variance analysis, supporting Quarterly Estimate at Completion (QEAC) process and inputs into reviews. The function is going through a period of significant transformation and modernisation (PCSM) and the role holder will be involved in implementation of this change into the team.
The team is structured into 2 areas, Contract Delivery and Project Control. The postholder will have the opportunity to support deliverables in both areas and will be a highly valued member of a small team of circa 7 staff. The role offers a unique opportunity to work on a large-scale project (over 3bn in total) which offers high complexity and working on a high specialised team on a daily basis.
Core duties
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role.
The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following:
Updating and maintaining the Project Control System to ensure accurate budgeting, cost collection and reporting Create Work Packages in the ERP to maintain appropriate reporting structures and accountability
Working within a large complex CAM to ensure funding is allocated and cost variances are challenged and understood
Input into the monthly Estimate to Complete forecast and Estimate at Completion forecast
Understand and input into the quarterly CSR process and report on the EAC movement on a complex high value contract
Ensure contract contingencies are understood and explained
Updating and reporting on the Risk Management process
Knowledge
Essentials:
Numerate and comfortable with financial terms; Margin, spend, forecast, budget, variance, funding
Experienced in manipulating large volumes of data and creating pivot tables and reports
Desirables:
Previous Project Control experience
Experience of working with large budgets >1bn
Working in a process and deadline driven environment and resilient when under pressure
Interrogation of costs to ensure appropriate cost collection
Reporting on bid progress
Pro-actively supporting the successful implementation of the Project Management change improvements into the team
Skills
Essentials:
Proficient with IT and comfortable with using multiple systems for download and input
High intermediate or advanced level Excel skills
Articulate and works well in a team environment
Desirables:
Familiar with WBS and OBS structures
Risk Management
Change control management
Comfortable with using initiative and using own judgement
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
