POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant is responsible for serving as a team leader in the Finance Department and ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This is an experienced-level position that reports to the Vice President of Finance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountability for analysis, reporting, forecasting and communication of quarterly/monthly financial results: P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow. This involves budgets, estimates, strategic plans and monthly/quarterly comparative analysis
  • Orchestrate the budget (Annual Operating Plan) development process and perform Overhead Pool analysis
  • Use ASC 606 Accounting principles (POCC Revenue recognition) within a Firm Fixed Pricing Model (FFP)
  • Reviews records of accounts to ensure accuracy
  • Develops systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies
  • Receives, sorts, and proofs accounting documents, and posts totals
  • Prepare reports and projections based on financial data
  • Develop financial forecasts to assist with budgeting and other fiscal requirements
  • Effectively researches, tracks, and resolves (or properly refers) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
  • Maintains regular contact with other departments to obtain information and/or to correct transactions views source documents and matches purchase orders, invoices, and receiving documents
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with vendors, company personnel and with management
  • Other duties as required or assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • 7+ years’ experience as an Accountant.
  • 2+ yrs of industry experience (Aerospace, Defense, Manufacturing or related)
  • Strong Analyst experience 2+ yrs
  • US GAAP experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA with a focus on Finance/Accounting
  • Experience with EAC / P&L
  • 4+ yrs of recent US GAAP Accounting experience
  • Experience using Sage Accounting
  • Experience using EmpowerMX

WORK ENVIRONMENT: WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in indoor settings, including office and warehouse/airplane hangar environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and safety gear.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
