Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Staff Accountant analyzes, monitors, and reports on manufacturing and operational costs to ensure accurate inventory valuation, job costing, and margin analysis. This role partners closely with operations to establish, maintain, and improve cost accounting processes, supports period‑end close related to cost and inventory accounts, and provides financial insights to support operational and management decision‑making for Aspire MRO and Mammoth Freighters. This is an experienced-level position that reports to the Corporate Controller, Shared Services.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare, review, and adjust accounting transactions; perform balance sheet reconciliations; and execute period-end close procedures in accordance with Company policies.
  • Sales and Use tax reporting and filings.
  • Assist with the preparation of consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from functional departments.
  • Maintain and balance the consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs / tasks; verifying data.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor job costing and cost tracking procedures, ensuring labor, material, and overhead costs are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Review and validate work‑in‑process (WIP), inventory, and job cost balances monthly.
  • Monitor inventory transactions, capitalization, and valuation in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform and review inventory and cost‑related balance sheet reconciliations, including WIP, inventory, accruals, and reserves.
  • Support and participate in physical inventory counts and reconciliation of variances.
  • Maintain accounting records for fixed assets, including additions, disposals, transfers, and retirements.
  • Review and validate capital expenditures, ensuring proper capitalization in accordance with GAAP and Company policy.
  • Calculate and record depreciation expense accurately and timely.
  • Perform fixed asset reconciliations and support periodic physical asset inventories.
  • Coordinate with operations and management to ensure assets are properly categorized between expense and capital.
  • Support internal and external audits related to fixed assets and capitalization.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
  • Provide support for internal and external audit requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s in business administration degree – Major in Accounting required.
  • 3 – 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • ERP Experience preferably with Sage and/or Epicor. Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other financial software packages
  • Protects Company’s value by maintaining confidentiality of information.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in indoor settings, including office and warehouse/airplane hangar environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and safety gear.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL: There is no travel expected for this position.
