This position is within the Controllership STAR Program. The STAR Program is a dedicated early career development program for individuals with public accounting experience, designed to provide targeted training, mentorship, exposure to the Executive Leadership Team, and accelerated career progression. The STAR Program is a unique opportunity to transition from public accounting to industry and gain exposure to various financial disciplines and Honeywell processes. In addition, the program is designed provide the opportunity to rotate to other STAR roles or graduate to a manager role within 12 to 24 months.

This position will be a member of the Building Automation segment controller staff. It will report to the BA Segment Assistant Controller and will have primary responsibility for controllership oversight on the BA Americas projects and services (HBS) business lines. The position will have significant interaction with the Americas project and services CFOs, leadership and global project controller team.

Key Responsibilities, Deliverables & Expectations:

  • Provide accounting support and guidance to the BA Americas projects and services (HBS) business lines including review of project cost adjustments (EACs), Service Contract Deviations, policy waivers, contract reviews, revenue accruals or other judgmental issues.
  • Review unbilled receivables, advances, and other aspects of long-term contract accounting
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc balance sheet analyses for HBS and the Building Automation (BA) segment overall.
  • Prepare various quarterly journal entries, such as warranty and credit memo reserves for HBS Americas
  • Serve as the BA controllership point of contact for the North America Regional Finance Center, assist with any account reconciliation or operational accounting questions on the HBS North America business units.
  • Prepare internal and external corporate reporting schedules, as requested.
  • Respond to audit requests and inquiries during periodic SOX and compliance testing.
  • Respond to financial data and accounting treatment requests from Finance, Business Partners, Project Managers and Analysts; assist Finance in forecast accuracy initiatives.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and corporate initiatives, as needed.
  • Ensure internal controls are designed and operating effectively, identify deficiencies, develop corrective action plans, and continue monitoring for timely remediation and closure
  • Assist Controllership and finance organizations with special projects

  • Ability to work in a matrixs organization structure.
  • Ability to understand accounting and financial processes related to a diverse project, service and manufacturing operations and to develop working relationships with all involved.
  • Ability to work independently and drive results.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of experience in large public accounting firm
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or on CPA path
