About the position

The Application Support Analyst is a highly motivated, enthusiastic problem solver with technical IT and coding knowledge and a deep understanding of how business critical systems and applications function.

The Application Support Analyst will play a pivotal role in maintaining and resolving issues to ensure applications and systems run smoothly within the business, while also providing software development support to help maintain existing code, implement enhancements, maintain integrations, and troubleshoot software programs and applications. This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing existing applications.

Please note this position is currently based on site at our Kanata office at 20 Cope Drive. Our offices will transition to our new location in Ottawa at 100 Thad Johnson Private later this year.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Incident/Request Management

  • Monitor and provide technical support to teams, responding the incidents and requests made in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Resolve incidents and problems related to the application and supporting systems.
  • Document issue/problem, business impact, root causes and resolution.

Application Improvements and Adoption

  • Collaborate with the business to identify opportunities for improvement and translate them into actionable technical enhancements.
  • Maintain and update technical documents, procedures and training materials to support end users to IT teams.
  • Deliver training to teams as needed.

Application and System Maintenance

  • Keep abreast of application and system roadmaps.
  • Work with project teams to prepare and implement maintenance and upgrade plans.
  • Manage application and system user accounts and profiles.
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance and support of sustainable applications.
  • Write and debug code to support application integrations, enhancements, bug fixes, and minor feature development.
  • Deploy bug fixes, patches, and minor enhancements for business support applications

Application/System Testing and Validation

  • Develop test plans, scenarios, and scripts to validate system functionality against business requirements.
  • Coordinate and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) with stakeholders and end-users, ensuring that systems meet user needs and expectations.
  • Facilitate issue resolution and support the resolution of issues identified during testing.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Post secondary Degree or Diploma in information technology, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in an application support, systems support, or similar role, supporting business applications in a production environment.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to determine the root cause of issues/problems and understand business impact to provide resolution to issue or problem.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining applications build with ASP.NET (VB.NET and C).
  • Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio to troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance existing ASP.NET web and Windows-based applications.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Forms and Console Applications, with the ability to support and troubleshoot existing applications.
  • Database experience with SQL Server, including queries, stored procedures, and exposure to SSIS.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining data integration processes, including APIs, data ingestion, and ETL workflows.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) for workflow automation and lightweight solutions.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with CSS, HTML, and/or web-based application design is considered an asset.
  • Experience with creating reports in SSRS, or Power BI is considered an asset.
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut is considered an asset.
  • Airline experience is considered an asset
