Duties Help

The Aviation Safety Program Compliance Specialist applies experience and comprehensive technical knowledge applicable to Aircraft Certification Service programs in order to accomplish assignments and in developing and coordinating program strategies and project planning; providing analyses and recommendations concerning a broad and often complex issues involving internal management systems and functional assignments as required for Aviation Safety, FAA, and DOT in coordination with other elements in the organization.

This position performs multiple, varying and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a manager or more experienced technical specialist.

Typical work assignments include:

Prepares and develops major policy, guidelines, procedures and regulations on aviation safety compliance program;

Provides expertise, advice and comprehensive guidance on controversial, sensitive or complex matters pertaining to statutory and regulatory requirements;

Participates in a wide variety of complex studies and research projects to measure, assess, and evaluate the effect of changes and trends pertinent to the activities of the agencys aviation safety program;

Proactively identifies and resolves particularly complex or controversial individual transactional or aviation safety programmatic issues;

Collaborates with both internal and external representatives of the industry, federal, state and local government agencies, foreign authorities, congressional interests, other external organizations and higher authorities on aviation safety programs tasked with the development and implementation of aviation policy, guidelines, procedures and regulations;

Prepares comprehensive reports of study results which include participation in technical working groups and ad hoc advisory committees;

Conducts formal and informal discussions with all levels of technical personnel concerned with or affected by AVS programs;

Prepares for and makes presentations at meetings representing the Associate Administrator and/or the Deputy Associate Administrator with internal and external stakeholders;

Prepares technical briefing materials, proposals, and replies to aviation safety inquiries;

Works closely with the AVS executive front office staff to ensure continuous improvement to front office processes;

Work activities may impact directly on the objectives of one or more major subdivisions or LOB/SOs and may also impact on the objectives of the FAA. The work may affect the safety and security of customers.

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I / FG/GS-13. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience is: Experience analyzing, evaluating, and advising on aircraft certification and aviation safety matters. Experience in developing and managing complex project plans and schedules.Experience providing aircraft certification division and executive leadership teams advice and information on safety issues.
