Job Description:
This position will provide leadership and guidance to continuously evolve BDUK’s Lean Strategy to enable ongoing strengthening of our Continuous Improvement culture. The role holder will engage with business leaders across BDUK but will also have a role contributing to the broader Boeing Company Lean Strategies. The role is also pivotable to the efficient running of the BDUK Business Improvement Team. The Lean Strategy Programme Lead is a high-profile position and will be instrumental in strengthening BDUK’s long-term commitment to Operational Excellence. The role holder will report directly to the Head of Business Improvement for BDUK.
Responsibilities include:
Provide leadership and influence to strengthen BDUK organizational wide continuous improvement capability and culture
Provide direct input and direction to organizational development through Lean Education Programmes
Provide expertise in Lean Operational/Excellent Systems through coaching, mentoring and upskilling to strengthen the deployment of the Boeing Lean Production System
Facilitate large scale step change improvement initiatives with cross-functional teams to deliver improvements in safety, first time quality and productivity.
Capture and report on the benefits using key performance indicators such as: People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation
Ensure the Business Improvement Team processes and procedures are compliant and maintained to meet the requirements of BDUK’s Quality Management System
Provide training, coaching and mentoring to Business Improvement Team members to ensure the appropriate competencies are developed and sustained

Basic Qualifications/ Education & Experience:
Expert in Lean / Operational Excellence Systems of Work
Highly skilled in the management and leadership of cross functional teams and an expert practitioner of collaborative working techniques and methods
Advanced stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build strong professional relationships at both senior management level and shop floor level
A good understanding of Quality Management Systems and supporting regulatory bodies
Highly experienced coach and trainer with proven ability to transfer knowledge in the development of others
Expert facilitator in leading and organising improvement activities from 1 Day Kaizen events to 5 Day detailed organisational step change / value stream mapping events
Highly experienced in detailed end-to-end value stream mapping
The ability to obtain UK SC
Preferred Qualifications/ Education & Experience:
15 Years + of proven experience in leading the development and deployment of Continuous Improvement Systems that have contributed directly to operational excellence. This experience would have been gained in different business environments that would include Education and Training, Aerospace and Security, Manufacturing and Service Businesses.
Highly skilled with significant experience as a senior practitioner in facilitation, complex value streams, complex problem solving, developing best practices. Proven record of measurable success with advanced collaboration skills and techniques demonstrated within complex stakeholder structures that include customers, suppliers, internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
An appropriate education or equivalent credentials within Manufacturing, Maintenance Operations, Engineering and Quality Systems. Certifications or equivalent credentials in Lean / Process Improvement Systems and Methodologies will be required. A relevant Degree or equivalent credentials based on acquired experience within Lean Education, Operations Management and deployment of Lean/Operational Excellence Systems will be viewed as advantageous to complement significant senior level practitioner experience.
