SUMMARY:
The continuous improvement specialist will be report directly to the Senior Manager of Continuous Improvement.

 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Manage, Track and Implement new ideas for ST Aerospace Mobile/ Pensacola.  
2.    Responsible for Leading Continuous Improvement Projects for the site.
3.    Facilitate and train employees at all levels within the business.
4.    Develop processes that enable the implementation of Lean, Team & Six-Sigma principles.
5.    Provide stability within Teams or Groups while encouraging, inspiring, motivating and challenging others to continuously improve.
6.    Coach to solve problems, remove barriers, work with other cross-functional departments and conduct organized, effective meetings.
7.    Conduct/support Lean workshops, project teams, and Six-Sigma efforts for STAerospace Mobile and support customer driven Continuous Improvement Projects.    
8.    Provide process improvement support to all operating units within ST Aerospace.
9.    Encourage, motivate, and foster an environment for employees to be receptive to change.
10.  Plan, organize, conduct and follow-up on projects, tasks &/or events with the ability to switch between facilitative leader and driver as situations dictate.
11.  Perform a variety of duties, changing often from one task to another without loss of focus or purpose while identifying and defining problems, evaluating alternatives, and 
    implementing cost-effective solutions.
12. Understand and communicate company policies, procedures, vision, goals, and safety regulations to the teams & encouraging ownership for operational strategic planning initiatives.
13.    Participate and assist in formal training, the facilitating of teams & providing mentoring opportunities for individuals.
14.    Continuously expand knowledge of Lean tools and techniques.
15.     Communicate results of Continuous Improvement Projects internally to Senior Management and external to Customer Continuous Improvement Leaders.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:    
Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following:
    The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively; creative; persuasive.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
SUPERVISION:    The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority.  Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS:    A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management and the public.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:    Essential responsibilities are performed office areas as well as hot and cold climates.  Lifting, climbing, and kneeling is required.   Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:    Preferred degree qualified (vocational, professional or advanced) in the field of Engineering, Aviation Management, Quality Management or Logistics Management.  4 years related experience within Engineering, Aviation, Quality, Logistics or 2 years’ experience with related bachelor’s degree.

Lean Practitioner Skills
Experienced Lean Facilitator
Facilitator Skills
Facilitator trainer
Experience with team deployment, dynamics, and development.
Facilitate team meetings
Facilitative leadership instructor
Communications Skills
Experience with coordinating team report outs to management
Experience in training and communication
Operations 
Experience in Management, Planning or Technical Support of Engineering, Aviation, Quality or Logistics Operations
