Collins Aerospace is seeking a Cost Automation Specialist to join our central Cost Engineering Group. In this role, you will provide critical support for proposal development, including both dollar and labor estimates, while also driving should-cost analysis and cost modeling for engine control units and power distribution units within our Power & Controls business. This position is well-suited for an engineer with strong analytical skills, a passion for data mining and design review, and the ability to develop automation tools that improve accuracy and efficiency across cost engineering processes.
What You Will Do
Partner with program teams to deliver accurate dollar and labor estimates in support of business proposals.
Conduct design-to-cost and should-cost analyses to evaluate supplier quotes, design alternatives, and manufacturing approaches.
Perform data mining and design reviews to ensure estimates reflect real-world cost drivers.
Collaborate with contracts, program management, engineering, supply chain, plants, and pricing to ensure alignment across the business.
Build and maintain cost models, cost databases, and automation tools to streamline estimating activities.
Develop and deliver recurring cost estimates in support of business proposals and engineering initiatives.
Prepare compliant estimate packages and documentation for leadership and customer review.
Create compliant estimate packages, cost analyses, and supporting documentation.
Assist in the development of new cost-estimating tools, processes, and automation solutions.
Drive continuous improvement in cost-estimating accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Qualifications You Must Have
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience in cost estimation, cost analysis, or related engineering discipline.
Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced expertise in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, macros).
Understanding of materials, labor, overhead rates, standards, and cost/learning curves.
Experience with Software Engineering concepts such as database design and programming languages (Python, VBA, or similar).
Experience with cost automation, estimating software, or data visualization platforms.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
