Crew Planning Specialist

Your role

If you are a motivated, solution-minded person who is interested in growing their career in a dynamic, fast paced environment – we invite you to apply for the position of Crew Planning Specialist in Aer Lingus.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating circa 2,100 cabin crew employee rosters, ensuring the optimum use of cabin crew resources within strict timelines. You will be responsible for ensuring the rosters are robust and regulatorily compliant, so as to offer Aer Lingus operational stability and cabin crew members equitable opportunity for work/life balance.

This is an important role that ensures we can effectively deliver on our legacy of connecting people and places across Europe and North America.

  • Responsibility for creating rosters in compliance with all current regulatory requirements (EASA and local working agreements) that provide operational stability to Aer Lingus and offer work / life balance to cabin crew employees.
  • Responsibility for block hour management on each roster across a number of crew contract types.
  • Providing roster stability, with particular focus on the optimum planning of standby cover.
  • In coordination with the Training Academy, planning all cabin crew training in line with the needs of the business.
  • Roster analysis and statistics for line departments; and making recommendations in relation to future roster productions.
  • Actively and innovatively engaging with other departments, including IFS, OCC and Schedules Planning to enhance rosters and improve roster optimisation.
  • Engaging with IFS on communication with crew and supporting crew with bidding.
  • Support our Resource Planning team.
  • Partner with other teams including, Resource Planning, Inflight Services (IFS), The Training Academy, Human Resources, Schedules Planning and the Operations Control Centre (OCC).

Your qualifications and key criteria

  • Third level degree in a business discipline or a minimum of three years relevant experience.
  • Excellent IT skills and experience using the full MS Office suite. You should also be willing to learn about new systems and technologies. 
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Solution orientated with an ability to think creatively.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with a key emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across various departments.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a high level of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment with an ability to remain calm, flexible, resourceful and efficient at all times.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of an integrated team to meet deadlines. 
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • Eligible to live and work in EU.
  • Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5 year background check.

Desirable criteria

Experience of using AIMS and/or Jeppesen products.
Knowledge and understanding of EASA regulations.
