Position SummaryReporting to the SOCC Manager, the Crew Scheduler is responsible for management of crew members’ monthly schedule once it has been released. They are also responsible for the daily adjustment of crew assignments as needed in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations and the applicable Collective Agreements.Personal CharacteristicsHighly flexible, with the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environmentProfessional and respectful, with a positive work attitudeTimely with a high level of commitment to on-time performance is essentialMotivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamEffective verbal and written communication skillsHigh level of integrity, confidentiality and accountabilityStrong problem solving and analytical skillsStrong planning skills and detail-orientedHigh level of respect, understanding and regard for First Nations communitiesKey Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesEnsure that all flight crew have checked in and/or been notified of their flight schedule in accordance with Company policies and contract agreementsEnsure that updated information is provided to Flight Followers, Commercial Operations and the Flight Dispatch Centre as Airline management software is updatedCommunicate to applicable departments any delays that will occur due to crewing issues (same day and future)Prepare various reports including daily, monthly and annual Operational reportsPossess the ability to make informed decisions without compromising internal policies/proceduresAssist with the monthly crewing of aircraft as may be required from time to time by Crew PlanningEnsure that crewing is correct for future days’ operationsLook ahead for future crewing and ensure that resources are allocated accordinglyProvide training and mentoring to new crew schedulers, ensuring that the SOCC is maximizing operational effectivenessMonitor the crew scheduling software, consulting and communicating with all departments to ensure that operations run smoothly and efficientlyPredict “real time” and organize all crew assignments through airline management softwareWork with Flight Follower and Dispatch to communicate flight assignment changes to appropriate crew membersAssign crews day to day based on the monthly schedule created by the Crew Planner, reassign crew members as required for flight and duty purposes or operational requirements, in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations and the applicable Collective AgreementsPerform additional duties as assignedMinimum Education, Experience and CertificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalentTransport Canada Generic Dispatch Exams (FDMET and FDOPS) are considered an asset, but not requiredCanadian Radio License (Aeronautical) requiredMust be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizationsPrior experience in operations, crew scheduling and/or flight coordination preferredStrong customer service experience considered an assetPrevious experience with Airline Management software programs considered an assetExperience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an assetWorking ConditionsPhysically able to perform all listed job dutiesTravel by aircraft and other means as required by roleManual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephoneModified work agreement (7 on 7 off or Monday-Friday)Shiftwork may be required (days, evenings and/or night shift)Various shifts and at a fast pace in order to meet service level requirements of the airlineWork performed primarily in an office environmentAble to work outside of public transit hoursOccasional lifting of approximately 30 lbs may be requiredPhysical location of this position is only accessible via a flight of stairsMethods and procedures described or implied in the job profile may be altered to accommodate employees.
