Purpose of Position

The Data Privacy Specialist is responsible for supporting the organizations data privacy to ensure compliance with various regulations and best practices, monitoring compliance and data practices internally to ensure compliance with the applicable requirements under applicable data privacy regulations. Serves as the primary contact for individuals whose personal data is processed by the organization, consulting on privacy matters, development, implementation, maintenance and execution of policies, procedures, and data privacy related documentation.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Assist in creating and maintaining privacy related notices, policies, standards, guidelines, and processes.
Conduct assessments, review results, and work with stakeholders to mitigate privacy risks across the organization.
Support and maintain a privacy governance framework to manage data use in compliance with applicable data protection regulations, including developing policies, standards, and templates for data collection, and assists with data mapping, and vendor management reviews.
Provide deep technical privacy guidance, analysis, and feedback to business stakeholders. Help develop, implement, and manage processes, internal controls relating to privacy frameworks and offer privacy support to various departments.
Collaborate with compliance and security professionals on projects related to compliance with global data protection and privacy laws.
Assist in developing and administering privacy training and awareness campaigns for various business units within the company.
Establish and manage tools for managing and tracking compliance with global privacy obligations such as privacy impact assessments, technical implementation of privacy by design and default, and operational workflows.
Provide ongoing management, content development and oversight of the privacy program, including training, risk management, exception handling and process improvement.
Work with key internal stakeholders in the review of projects, related data, and agreements to ensure compliance with local data privacy laws, and where necessary, complete and advise on privacy impact assessments.
Review vendor contracts and consents needed to implement projects in partnership with business stakeholders.
Support and maintain ROPA and maintain data security incident management plan to ensure timely remediation of incidents including impact assessments, security breach response, complaints, claims or notifications, and processing of data subject access requests (DSARs).

Bachelor's in Computer Science or Information Technology

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Law or other related program
3+ years of demonstrated experience in Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) and Privacy domains.
Experience in privacy and data protection laws, specifically in GDPR and US privacy laws.
Experience conducting privacy reviews, control assessments, and privacy impact assessments.
Strong knowledge of privacy engineering techniques, including privacy by design and default techniques.
Privacy certification (such as CIPP/CIPM/CIPT or similar) is strongly preferred.
