Job Description:

Reports to: Vice President- Director of Aviation Operations

Location: Conroe-North Houston Airport (KCXO), approximately 1 hour from downtown Houston, TX.

What You’ll Do:

As the Director of Safety at Barr Air Patrol and Barr GeoSpatial Solutions, you will oversee risk management across all entities. This includes managing the Safety Management System, associated software, processes, and programs, and being actively involved in all aspects of the business.

Duties:

The Safety Program Director will:

  • Advocate for safety as a core company value.
  • Conduct various levels of safety risk and hazard assessments.
  • Lead safety investigations, including Root Cause and Human Factors analysis.
  • Perform audits and safety inspections, overseeing designated auditors.
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports for audits and investigations.
  • Generate analytical data on safety events, trends, and performance indicators.
  • Maintain internal and external safety databases for both internal and customer use.
  • Engage in technical writing for manuals, policies, programs, and company communications.
  • Organize and facilitate safety meetings, summarizing key points.
  • Participate in industry safety events, training, and conferences.
  • Collaborate in Company and third-party safety program audits.
  • Drive the advancement of our safety program within a growing and diversifying business.
  • Deliver safety-related onboarding and training for new personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Attendance, Hours, and Travel:

  • Normal work hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm.
  • Some remote work permitted.
  • Travel required, up to 50% of work days, varying with current demands.
  • Early starts and late ends may be necessary based on travel requirements.
  • Occasional weekend work may be needed to address unusual or emergency situations.

Compensation:

  • Negotiable salary based on qualifications and experience.

Job Requirements:
  • Valid FAA commercial pilot license and 1st or 2nd class medical certificate OR FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificates with flying experience in a crew environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing an aviation Safety Management System for manned aircraft.
  • Strong commitment to safety with a proactive approach to maintaining safety standards within the organization.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively within teams and groups.
  • Proficient computer skills with the capability to quickly learn new programs, applications, and processes. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google productivity suites is essential.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to effectively manage multiple demands and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
