Job Summary
Responsible for supporting a variety of Environmental Health & Safety functions in partnership to business unit or campus. This role provides support for EHS Team members and other stakeholders in functional areas of EHS including, but not limited to employee relations, safety concerns, workers compensation, hazardous waste management, drug & alcohol, injury response. Facilitates and communicates organizational policies and programs and ensures regulatory compliance.
This role is included in a family of positions including EHS Specialist, EHS Lead Specialist and Sr. EHS Lead. Employees are placed based on organizational need, employees level of experience, and competency within the role. This position reports to designated EHS Manager based in Duluth.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Supports communication and ensures compliance with EHS and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Provides support and counsel to leaders and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of EHS policies, procedures and practices.
- Coordinate with various levels of leadership and employees to provide advice and counsel on employee issues and/or concerns; If necessary, conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations to ensure concerns are appropriately resolved in a timely manner.
- Works effectively with local HR team.
- Demonstrates professional behavior and the ability to maintain confidentiality on a variety of topics; understands and exercises good judgement to know when to involve HR Business Partner or leader on more complex or sensitive issues.
- Leads, develops, and participates in company-sponsored activities to support employee engagement.
- Maintains accurate employee records and administrative procedures that comply with company and regulatory guidelines.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with Operations, Managers, Supervisors, and employees.
- Participate in meetings to discuss workplace safety and regulatory concerns and opportunities.
- Outlines and implements training programs to educate and inform on workplace safety.
- Accident prevention, regulations and response.
- Managing safety metrics.
- Provides Safety training.
- Providing coaching for EHS Specialist on Drug & Alcohol, Workers Compensation programs.
- Taking initiative for continuous improvement projects and policies.
- Works directly on the floor with leaders and technicians to drive proactive safety initiatives.
- Actively supports our mission, vision and core values and demonstrates Cirrus Service Essentials.
- Participates in department meetings and offers suggestions and ideas for process improvement.
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Environmental Health & Safety, or equivalent field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum four years related experience in Safety or operations
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively manage stress, including competing work demands and multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to effectively work with others and maintain professional demeanor.
- Exceptional Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook).
- GSP (Graduate Safety Professional), ASP (Associate Safety Professional), CSP (Certified Safety Professional, CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) helpful, however, not required
