The ideal candidate should possess supply chain & logistics experience, have interest in process improvement and procedures in addition to demonstrating keen interest in airline and petroleum industries. You will be joining a dynamic team that keeps Air Canada’s passengers flying globally. The successful candidate will work alongside major rail, marine, road and oil industry companies, with the objective to optimize our extensive supply chain and ensure security of jet fuel supply at major Canadian airports.

This role requires someone who will be a key contributor, adaptable and enthusiastic about finding solutions to supply chain challenges, be collaborative with partners in order to obtain the best value for the airline and to develop mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.

In this role, responsibilities will include wide ranging activities with an evolving focus over time as required by the team into more specific areas including, logistics, contractual negotiations, compliance, process improvement and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate monthly jet fuel requirements nationwide. 
  • Plan and monitor all supply logistics: marine, pipeline, rail and truck deliveries.
  • Communicate and coordinate delivery plan to suppliers and terminal operators.
  • Revalidate demand forecast on a daily basis & implement corrective measures if required.
  • Validate quality documentation (CoA) to accept or reject a delivery.  
  • Determine jet fuel treatment options in case of off spec delivery.
  • Handle day to day supplier/customer contractual relationships.
  • Analyze quarterly report for cost control and identify opportunities for cost reductions. 
  • Responsible for term, spot sales and exchange volumes contracts.
  • Prepare sales invoice details for accounts receivables.
  • Track vendors safety and environmental compliance with regulators.
  • Deal with operational requirements and compliance of railcar fleet (250+). 
  • Schedule vessel movements for Eastern/Western Canada 40-50 movements per year (1Billion + liters).
  • Ensure 100 security of supply at all stations 24/7/365.
  • Provide support for emergency response (ERAP) by being the point of contact in the event of jet fuel transportation crisis. 
  • Complete month end reconciliations and on-time close first week of every month.
  • Validate and approve operational invoices.
  • Daily data input of fuel receipts/dispensals into fuel management system.
  • Various administrative tasks as required – ie providing BOLS (Bill of Ladings) to carriers, filing documents in SharePoint etc.
  • Input contractual documents into internal SAP reporting system and provide support to managers for contractual negotiations.
  • Work with various internal groups: taxation, customs, legal, insurance, audit; to ensure that we are complying with governmental & environmental regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Assist manager in conducting vendor management audits.
  • Assist manager with business transformation & process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable tasks required for automated flows/reports.

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent experience with specialization in a business-related field (Accounting, Finance, Business Technology Management, Logistics) or other quantitative disciplines (Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent) preferred. Graduate studies are an asset. 
  • Ability to manage simultaneous tasks, in a fast-paced 24/7 environment.
  • Pertinent experience in accounting, finance, supply chain, logistics, operations is an asset.
  • Must be a team player, flexible, analytical, detailed oriented with great communication and problem-solving skills. 
  • Full proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Power BI an asset
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Power BI, Excel using formulas, scripts etc.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Power Automate preferred.
  • Understanding of the airline and petroleum industries is an asset. 
  • Desire to learn and progress, passion to win as a team.
