Job Title: Ground Services Military Planner
Department: Ground Services
Reports to: Manager of Ground Service
Location: Hybrid (Monday-Friday)
Position Description
The Ground Services Military Planner is responsible for ensuring Kalitta Air’s full compliance and operational readiness for all Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. Transportation Command (TRANSCOM), and Air Mobility Command (AMC) missions. This role is responsible for centralized planning and coordination and managing military airport suitability, ground handling readiness, and vendor capability validation across the global network.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain the global database of all approved and pending military suitability stations.
• Coordinate directly with AMC, TRANSCOM, and host-nation authorities.
• Validate ground handlers for equipment capability (Towbars, GPU/LAV/Water Carts).
• Pre-plan handling for scheduled and ad-hoc military charters, ensuring all vendors are mission-ready.
• Serve as the central liaison between Kalitta’s OCC, Military Sales, Aircraft Scheduling, and field stations for all military ground service compliance.
• Ensure response timeliness to AMC/TRANSCOM inquiries and prevent mission delays due to outdated or incomplete data.
• Any additional duties as required by the Manager of Ground Service.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Prior experience in Ground Operations, Operations Control, or related aviation planning role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift 50lbs on a repeated basis.
• Must be available for flexible hours.
• Excellent verbal and written (e-mail) communication skills.
• Strong cross-departmental communication and teamwork.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate; some college and/or technical school desirable. Must have a working knowledge of world geography as well as knowledge of air cargo / ground operations. Previous ULD tracking or logistics experience preferred.
LANGUAGE/MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give verbal and written direction to fellow employees as well as vendors. Ability to perform basic math calculations using mental math as well as a calculator
